In the underwater world, fish cruise the worlds oceans, lakes, and rivers in pursuit of prey while fly fishermen anxiously scan through their boxes in order to select the perfect pattern with one goal in mind: to catch the biggest fish of their dreams. At Musky Mike Flies, I am dedicated towards the development of high-performance, high quality flies and hair jigs that catch big fish in marine and freshwater fisheries throughout the world.
GET TO KNOW ME
As an experienced and accomplished fly fisherman, I am extremely passionate about fly tying. Originally from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, my sport fishing background started within the backcountry muskie waters of Wisconsin and pelagic bluewater of the Great Lakes. During the summer of 2006, I pursued an undergraduate fisheries program at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. Throughout my undergraduate career, I worked as an assistant fishing department manager for Sportsman's Warehouse and fisheries technician for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game researching Kenai River Chinook salmon. After completion of my BS in Fisheries in 2012, I continued guiding for salmon and grayling in Interior Alaska while working as a technician for the Alaska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. Examples of projects involved with included rainbow trout radio telemetry, bioelectrical impedance analysis of arctic grayling, foraging ecology of Colville River whitefish, and assessment of juvenile salmon predation on Chena River. Overall, my passion for fishing and the environment has allowed me to contribute over a 100 articles in 10 different magazine publications.
