Polar Squid Trolling Fly- BLUEBACK HERRING

Polar Squid Trolling Fly- BLUEBACK HERRING

Unlike other baitifsh, squids perform and exhibit an unique swimming action in the water column that absolutely drives predatory fish bonkers. The polar squid trolling fly in blueback herring color combination exhibits high performance movement. The blueback herring color combination mimics herring and alewives in either the ocean or Great Lakes. Tentacles are composed of ostrich, Lateral scale flash, royal blue grizzly feathers, and other natural materials. A specalized hologrpahic tubing and 15mm Fish Skull eyes add realism and detail to the pattern. The holograpic tubing is custom colored to match the coloration of the blueback herring color scheme. Tied on a tube to maximize durablilty and versatilty, the stinger hook slides up the main trolling leader after strike impact, thus resulting in maximum life history of the fly compared to traditional trolling flies tied on hooks that last only a few hook ups before they are completely destroyed. Comes pre-rigged with snelled Gamakatsu octopus hook to a 40 or 50-pound flurocarbon leader.

  • Blueback herring

Blueback herring is a color combination that contains multiple hues of blues, greens, and purple that resembles coloration and morphology  of many herring species such as the Pacific herring, blueback herring, threadfin herring, and alewives (e.g. river herring).  Blueback herring (Alosa aestivalis) is an anadromous species of herring that inhabit the nutrient rich marine waters of the East Coast. Average length is 6 to 8 inches and commonly can achieve maximum of 16 inches.  The Polar Squid in blueback herring contains purple ostrich feathers, blue pearl Lateral scale flashabou, royal blue grizzly thin saddle feathers, and trimmed hootchie skirt fibers for the tentacles. The holographic tubing is custom colored with multiple shades of blue and purple. Mantle of polar squid is a two-toned sea blue/royal blue synthetic brush designed to provide additional pulsation and match the coloration of blueback herring.
