Bucktail Deceiver Trolling Fly - ROUND GOBY
One of the most significant predator-prey interactions in the Great Lakes is the round goby (Neogobius melanostomus ), an invasive foragefish introduced from the ballast water of European ships. Since their expansion into the Great Lakes watershed, they have changed food web dynamics entirely, yet aggressive predators have taken advantage of their new presence. Large brown trout (e.g. German and Seeforellen), lake trout, smallmouth bass, walleyes, and pike have targeted them very aggressively since their introduction. To capitalize of this newly introduced predator-prey interaction, Musky Mike Flies has developed the ultimate trolling fly that resembles a round goby. Tail construction consists of schlappen feathers (e.g. olive, fiery brown, olive Grizzly, and brown Grizzly). Main body is mixed blend of dark olive and brown bucktail hair. Fin option colors are either brown or olive Grizzly. Available in lengths 3 through 10-inches. Sizes 7-inches and larger are designed for trophy brown and lake trout while smaller models are superior in cold, tough conditions. The head of the fly is finished with coastal deer hair. Pelvic and pectoral fin color options are brown or olive grizzly hen saddle feathers. Custom brown holographic Flashabou brings supplemental movement to the pattern.
