Deceiver Jig- GIZZARD SHAD
The bucktail deceiver jig in "gizzard shad" color scheme is one of the ultimate weapons designed for targeting Great Lakes brown trout, steelhead, lake trout, walleyes, smallmouth bass, and pike. This model pictured above is a standard in-line model that comes with a #2 Gamakatsu stinger hook to increase hook up percentages, especially in situations in which fish short strike the back of the jig. Upper back contains mixed coloration of light blue and grey bucktail that is accented with a light blue sparkle flash topping. Underbelly is white bucktail. Additional details include multiple strands of pearl lateral Scale flashabou to simulate the lateral line, hen saddle grizzly feather to match the "black dot" as seen on shad-model crankbaits, and 10 mm Flymen Fish Co eyes in color "Earth' for pure realism. Available in legnths 3 through 6-inches and weight models of 3/8 ounce through 1 ounce.
Gizzard shad
Gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum) are one of the most dominant and signicant species of baitfishes nationwide that have been well known for creating trophy fisheries. Ranging in length from 4 to 16 inches, gizzard shad feature either one of two mixed combinations of coloration for the upper back: (1) grey with black or (2) grey with light blue. The underbelly is white. Strands of pearl lateral scale flashabou represent the lateral line combined with blue holographic Sparkle Flash for a topping on the upperback. Dyed grizzly hen saddle feather is used to simulate the operculum or gill flap region of the gizzard shad. Compared to other foragefishes, gizzard shad feature a reduced lateral line system, thus resulting in reduction of their mechanical sensory system.
