Gizzard Shad BTD 4-fly Vegan Rig
Gizzard Shad exhibit one of the most prolific populations of baitfish species in the Great Lakes. Throughout the winter and spring off season, brown trout commonly suspend over deep cold water in search of gizzard shad schools composed of 3-6” fish. Musky Mike Flies has released the latest vegan rig in the gizzard shad color (medium grey/light blue) scheme. Body of flies feature medium grey and light blue buctkail upperback combined with white underbelly. Topping is composed of blue pearl Sparkleflash. Each fly contains a set of custom-made 10mm eyes from Dead Meat Customs in combination with two coats of UV-enhanced resin which thus allows for maximum longevity. It is available in an introductory length scheme for the teaser and trailer flies. Length as follows: 2-3-3-4- inches. The 2-3-3-4 is tied on 50-inch 50-pound Seaguar Blue Label flourocarbon leader. The larger teaser fly is uni-knot snelled to a single #4/0 Gamakatsu octopus hooks. A 6mm glow stopping bead and nail knot of 80-pound Dacron allows for easy adjustment of the teasers. No crimps or toothpick failures as experienced with other manufacturers. This is the most advanced vegan rig on the fishing market today for trophy Great Lakes brown trout come late winter and spring. FLASHER RECOMMENDATIONS
All Musky Mike Flies vegan rigs perform the best when the rig is specifically connected to a 10- or 12-inch double-fin fish blade flasher or 11-inch paddle-style flasher.
